Yes, buy the V8. For the Challenger specifically, you should get the V8 or don't bother, unless you think it's the coolest car on the planet and there's no way you can afford the V8. I haven't driven the Challenger personally, but the V6 is something like 50-60% more horsepower than my car, but it weighs like 40% more.
The v6 challenger engines (at least my older pentastar) are super reliable but absolutely do not handle boost well at all. Knew a guy that put a supercharger kit on his v6 challenger and literally within 2 weeks blew the engine up. I don’t know if this holds true to the newer ones, but I imagine it does. I was sort of in the same spot - I was looking at new v6 Camaro’s and had just totaled my v6 challenger. I realllly wanted a v8 this time around. I ended up buying a 2010 manual SS with 35k miles for $19k. It’s honestly an entirely different experience than a v6. In the v6 cars, the car is the limiting factor.
